Spider-Man (2002)

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Needs more Spider-Man, Less Peter Parker
Let me preface this review by saying I'm a comic book fan, but not a Spider-Man fan. Scratch that. I like Spider-Man. It's that whiny little Peter Parker I could do without. Now, in the comics this isn't much of a problem. We spend far more time with Spidey than his alter-ego. In this film though, Parker dominates. And every time he stands on screen looking miserable I just start to zone out.

Frankly, I just don't feel that bad for him. The guy gets superpowers and keeps complaining about the terrible responsibility. I know that's a theme of the comics, but Spidey in the comics always seems to handle it so much better. His bad luck and poor me attitude never seemed excessively narcissistic. Here Peter mopes through most of the film, and I reallly got sick of it.

On the upside, there's some nice action in this film. Just not nearly enough of it. But the Green Goblin looks kind of lame. And that's saying something in a comic book universe. It's not a bad film. Just not very good and overlong. Am I the only one who's noticed that movies are getting longer without getting better? Editing makes or breaks a film, and this one could've easily been half-an-hour shorter.

Anyway, I've seen it twice and didn't hate it either time. But I'd never watch it again, and I've absolutely no desire to see Spider-Man 2 based on this film.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Spider-Man
With the recent resurgence of comic book popularity, it seemed only a matter of time before Marvel's classic heroes got their movies, just as DC's did. First came the spectacular blockbuster X-Men. After that rousing success, who could doubt that Spider-Man would be just as amazing?
Unfortunately, while the movie was a smash hit, it is not nearly up to the standards true fans set. The actors are competent, but with the possible exception of Defoe as Norman Osborne and the man who plays Jameson, none are outstanding. The visuals are sweet, but again, no surprises. The story is well-done, but not brilliant. See what I'm getting at?
So, while this isn't an exceptional movie, it IS quite good and a good gift item.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Spider-man Feauture Film
Im going to get right to the point and say it was a good movie but the green goblin looked like a power rangers villian spider-mans eyes sucked (...)they should have gave him mcfarlanes eyes buy and try it

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Look !! Its Spider-Man !!

Well... If there was ever a Superhero Movie.... well, then I guess we have found it. Spider-Man since the late 80s has been a Highly anticipated Comic-book hero to hit the screen, and in the 80s with the release of the Highly rated "Batman" film Directed by Tim Burton (See Batman Review)

Stan Lee Quote: "Me and Bob(Kane) often teased each other about who's comic-book action heroes would reach the silver-screen first, him being Lucky he beat me to it"

I must say, as my honest Opinion Seeing the film myself in the Cinema/Theatre 3 times I have never lost any interest in the Brightly colorful, and unique Super-hero based film

Tobey Maguire quote: "It's Not even just a Super-hero movie it's a story about two people in love too".

This just goes to show that Spider-Man not only provides a Action film but also a love story. A must for the family DVD collection, Spidey hits home through any occasion or event most definitley one for the holidays.

Overall View: 10/10

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Look out! Here comes the spider.....man
(Just a quick note, that was a song from areosmiths version, not the original)

Well... I saw this film the other night after the documentry. I was intrested to see this film because watching a bullied kid turn into his bullies worst nightmare is possible the greatest form of entertainment I can think of. I particulary enjoyed the part were Spiderman chases that crook who killed his uncle, ther are points in the film were Spidey and the green goblin duel, and we catch up with the idea that this is like watching power rangers (who miss a flying rocket but still trip over and nearly die) Spiderman was excellent in all meanings of the word, a bit basic, you must admit, the typical ways of making such a film, The FX are effective yet there are points were we can see that its FX and not a real life spiderman. But never mind.
