Since the 1990's Spider-Man cartoon was the most successful of all the Spider-Man cartoons, ratings wise, it becomes obvious why this series would be put to DVD. The Stan Lee interview and Spidey Rogues Gallery are priceless in of themselves. The original Spider-Man origin cartoon while dated in every way is the true classic Spider-Man cartoon and must be included in this package for posterity. All over the world they know the Spider-Man song!Fanboys keep forgeting that comics, movies and toys are a business. By putting two female characters in this cartoon package ( one Black the other Hispanic), they opened up the market for a character who comes out of a very small commercial market boys club called comic book readers (Fanboys). Well brothers, you better step into the 21st Century because all races, colors and creeds are stuck on Spider-Man. I would like to see the entire 1990's cartoon series placed on DVD, it would be a major seller.

I'll admit when I bought this I was thinking they made a new Spider-Man cartoon. It's really just a little peace of the Fox series I grew up with, which is all fine and good, but the title and everything is more than a bit misleading. I would have ejoyed it far more if they had had the whole "Sins Of The Father" arc on this tape becuse the title does'nt even mean anything if you have'nt seen the start of the story:). The episode with the ill girl was very sad at the ending though.
Personally I think the whole FOX series should be put out in normal volumes and *in order*. The '60s series holds no memories for me since I was born in the 80's, so I really can't say how it would do if they started bringing it out again. I did'nt think the animation was *that* bad, given it's age, and it's nice to see what started it all.

This video includes 5 Spider Man adventures. One of them is form the sixties and 4 from the the 90's.
As I grew up I was a fan of Super Man and Spider Man comic books, but I never really got into them, but when I heard this movie was coming out I knew I had to see it. This movie portrays the great works of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko who made Spider-Man into an ever-popular comic book while making Marvel Comics famous. My favorite adventure on this movie is "The origin of Spider-Man" which this year's Spider man movie is based on.
A bite by a rare breed of spiders at the Columbia University science lab gives Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) great vision and a perfect body. He also is also given great agility to jump form large skyscrapers and spin webs from his wrist. Then he assumes the identity of Spider Man to fight off the evil Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), that terrorizes the city with a glider that drops several bombs at a time. Spider-Man nearly loses his life while saving the life of his girlfriend, people who are being threatened to be killed by the Green Goblin, and many innocent people who he doesn't even know.
"The origin of Spider-Man": Tobey Maguire, with the emotional lead role overcomes the tragic death of his beloved Uncle Ben, growth trauma's, doubts, sorrows, and fear, to save lives and become the city icon. Willem Dafoe's hystericals and split-personality suffered after a lab-experiment gone wrong make him be a friend one minute and the evil Green Goblin the next. Kirsten Dunst fits the role nicely as Peter's love Mary Jane. Even characters with smaller parts like Peter's Uncle Ben (Cliff Robertson), and his friend Harry (James Franco) are amazing. Sam Raimi's big-screen version of the Marvel Comic's good-vs-evil Spider-Man comics is portrayed by outstanding acting, eye-popping special effects, great sound and much more. If you are a Spider-Man comic book fan or a fan of the movie, this is a movie you have to check out.

Back in the early part of the 90's Fox Kids Spider-Man The Animated Series was probably the strongest show in their lineup. Now this series is finally making it's way to DVD.
Unfortunatley, while still very good, this is NOT the best that this series has to offer. I can only guess why Buena Vista, who acquired the rights to this series when it bought Fox Family Channel, included the Rocket Racers storyline. This brings the whole DVD down. Any of the storylines with Venom, Michael Morbius, or The Hobgoblin would have made a much better entry ( or even my favorite story line featuring Daredevil).
What's really interesting on this DVD is the interview with Spider-Man co-creator Stan Lee. Lee offers some intriguing insight into the characters and the history of Marvel in general. Lee is a veritable treasure trove of comic book history.
As for some of the bonus features? The 1967 episode of "The Origin Of Spider-Man" is included. When I was about 4 or 5 this was great. But now it looks and sounds terribley dated. The villain gallery is interesting. As you click on each villain you are treated to a commentary by Stan Lee.
Overall this DVD is an exceptional value even with it's few shortcomings. If you're a new fan of the web head or an avid fan from his early days, you're sure to enjoy the Ultimate Villain Showdown.

This DVD is right out of the comic book. From the mention of the Hob Goblin to the Green Goblin tossing exploding pumpkins at Spidey. It has four episodes and we all know the first one all too well: Peter Parker gets bit and his uncle gets killed, etc.
The next two episodes are great followed by what I would classify as a time filler in the fourth episode.
Overall rating would have been a "5" had it not been for the weak last episode. Dr. Octopus, Green Goblin, and Kingpin are just how I remember them from my early years reading the comic.
Recommended for super hero comic fans and, of course, Marvel fans of all ages.
