Daredevil (Two-Disc Widescreen Edition)

In association with Amazon.com

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Huge improvement.
This cut is a huge improvement over the original theatrical release. As stated above it is 30 minutes longer and rated R. Daredevil was always a darker character that could be more fleshed out in an R rated flick. The fight scene in the bar/poolhall is extended. There is a subplot added in involving Matt, Foggy, and one of their clients played by Collio of all people. This subplot ties into the overall plot of the movie. The corny love scene between Matt and Elektra has been taken out. This is almost an entirely different movie. If the studio had released this version to begin with perhaps critics would have been kinder to this film. If you like comic book movies than this is a must own.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Daredevil...
Being a Marvel Comics' fan, I really do like their representation of "Daredevil." Ben Affleck does a good job in his role, as does Ms. Wagner as Elecktra. The action scenes were entertaining. I rate the movie five stars!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Director'
-A young boy loses his vision due to a tragic accident but in return his other senses become super sharp and give him the super human ability to see sound waves and hear with super human sharpness. He later loses his dad and this gives him the passion to be a superhero *how original* he becomes Daredevil and takes it upon himself to protect Hell's Kitchen or Heck's Kitchen if you're a republican. :). This DC also has a brand new story thread which involves Matt defending an ex convict called Daunte Jackson who has been falsely accused of murdering a hooker. Matt has to find out who really killed her and by investigating he slowly begins to learn more about the kingpin. This story thread was the most important aspect of the movie and yet it was taken out of the theatrical cut

-Make no mistake this director's cut is a completely different movie. it's essentially what the original should have been. Every aspect of this movie is enhanced in every way. From Matt and his dad talking about how he takes crap from kids at school to the extended scenes with the Kingpin who is actually more deadly in this and gives you a definite uneasy feel whenever he's around. they have this wonderful scene with him in which he kills two of his own guards without even thinking about it. It really lets you know the type of man he is. Aalso benefiting from the extensions is the relationship between Ben Affleck and Jon Favreau. We get to see them talk for a bit more and watch Favreau deliver one hilarious line after the other.

-Along with the the excellent extensions come brand new alternate scenes that make the movie completely different from the theatrical cut. Some scenes are edited differently, and others are completely gone and replaced with better shot and better acted scenes. Gone is the obligatory PG-13 love scene and in it place we get a much better scene where Matt has to leave Elektra to go stand up for those who can't defend themselves. That one scene lets us know the pain and hell that these poor heroes have to go through and how they must give the things they want the most in order to do what's right. Also gone is the whole concept of the priest knowing about Matt being daredevil and Matt going to him for confessional to tell him what he did the night before. Instead in the DC the priest never knows about Matt's identity till the very end of the movie, and in the place of the confessional we get yet another well shot and acted scene where we see Matt sitting in church trying his best to drown out the sounds that hurt his super sensitive ears

-Perhaps the one thing that gets the biggest improvement is the fight scenes. since the DC is R rated we get to see more of the fights and get to see them like the way they were meant to be seen before the MPAA put their hands on it. The fight between daredevil and elektra is longer and far more better in this one. We get to see her really stabbing the living snot out of the guy in this one. The Bullsye and Elektra fight is the most extended and most gruesome fight of them all. poor elektra gets her pretty little head bashed into the ground and watch bullseye just toy with her before finally gutting her like a fish. Finally the Kingpin and daredevil fight is also extended and a hell of a lot better for it. We get to see the speed and ferocious nature of the Kingpin as he whips daredevil around like a yo-yo and continually pound him into the ground. to put it simply the all the fight scenes are better and longer in this cut and should please all those who wished they were better. The only complaint I can find with this cut is that I wish they had improved the effects a bit because they weren't exactly the best. Even the director and Avi Arad admitted that. Oh and we also get to see Matt's mom

-Overall this a very satisfying and necessary improvement to the theatrical cut. Why Tom Rothman and the other "geniuses" at Fox allowed the producer to butcher the theatrical cut like he did is beyond me. If they had released this edition instead of the PG-13 cut then the movie would have been better received and maybe would have done better. At first I thought that Moriarty from AICN was exaggerating when he bad mouthed Tom Rothman but after seeing this DC I really see what he meant. The man is pure evil

Look out for the Frank Miller cameo

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Shame on you,Marvel!!
The producers of this move and Marvel comics should be ashamed. They raped a perfectly good comic with this monstrosity of a movie.I think a more appropriately title comic hero movie for Ben Affleck might be the Fat Retarded Janitor.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - BEST COMIC MOVIE. SHOULD BE THE STANDARD.
THIS COMIC BOOK MOVIE RAISES THE BAR FOR ALL OTHERS. DAREDEVIL WAS NOT ONE OF MY FAVORITE HEROES UNTIL I SAW THIS MOVIE. AND I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS, I'M NOT PART OF THE WHOLE BASH BEN AFLECK BAND WAGON, HE WAS CAST PERFECTLY AS DAREDEVIL/MATT MURDOCK. I'VE YET TO THINK OF ANYONE WHO COULD'VE DONE IT BETTER. STORY WAS GREAT, MUSIC ONLY ENHANCED THE ENJOYMENT OF THE MOVIE, AND CINEMAPHOTOGRAPHY WAS REALLY WELL DONE. I LOVED THE IMAGERY OF HIS MASK SITTIG IN A PUDDLE OF WATER, BLOOD, AND ROSE PETALS. THIS MOVIE WAS TOUGH, DARK, ROMANTIC, AND HAD VERY LITTLE CAMPY HUMOR, WHICH I DON'T LIKE IN A LOT OF COMIC BOOK MOVIES. I ENJOY THIS MOVIE ON MANY LEVELS AND GIVE IT A HIGH RECCOMENDATION. GO SEE IT.
